Evangelism is Sharing Good News

2 Timothy 4:1-8

Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ is a calling for the entire body of Christ.

Homework:
Read: Jeremiah 29-31
Memorize: Jeremiah 31:33

Apply:

The new covenant which has been ratified by Christ’s blood has made all who believe on the name of God’s Son bearers of Good News. God’s children must always be prepared to share what they know about Christ, what they have seen Christ do, and what they have heard about Christ they know to be true as disciple makers, ambassadors, and ministers of reconciliation (Matthew 28:19-20;    2 Corinthians 5:18). How are you going to intentionally fulfill these roles each day this week?

Evangelism is Knowing God as Lord

God’s people must demonstrate God’s authority over creation in surrender to His will.
Homework:
Read: Revelation 10-12
Memorize: Revelation 10:11

Apply:

Ambassadors of God must display the same character of God in their life. Therefore, the witness of the Church will be calm faithfulness in carrying out the law of Christ to love and to be holy as God is holy by the power of His Spirit residing in those who trust in Christ (Galatians 6:1-2; 1 Peter 1:13-16). The most effective witness to the authority of God is the people of God living in obedience even when it causes them to suffer (1 Peter 4:1-4).

Be Confident in God

There is no authentic sharing of Christ if there is no confidence in God’s identity.
Homework:
Read: John 10-12
Memorize: John 11:25

Apply:
The trust God’s people place in Him is a witness to His trustworthiness, provision, and eternal life that He  provides. Therefore, the people of God must live daily in the hope they have in Him and not in the fear and anxiousness of those who have   trusted in idols and human logic to satisfy their spiritual needs. Those who claim to believe Jesus is the   resurrection and the life, must live in that reality daily by trusting in Him more than themselves.

Christ has made atonement for sins so that people do not have to live in their sins, but have life in spite of their sin. Therefore, take time each morning to spend time praising God for the joy of living without the weight of sins bondage by: 1) remember God is with you because of Christ’s Spirit, 2) show faith in God by leaning upon His understanding and not your own, and 3) share how you have seen God in the past few days encouraging you, correcting you, and/or teaching you.

If there is no desire to spend time with God in prayer, reading His Word, and engaging with other believers in Christ in worship, the question has to be asked whether we are in fellowship with Christ or out of fellowship with Him. This does not have to do with relationship, but enjoying the benefits of salvation now in the joy, peace, and confidence in knowing the truth. How much time are you spending with God in His Word, prayer, and worship each day?
